Summertime In The South
Summer is upon us and it’s awesome! I’m currently enjoying one of my favorite parts of the job - lounging on my bed, good tunes in my ear, a nice breeze keeping me cool, watching the beautiful green Kentucky countryside pass by . . . all while on our way to Bonnaroo. Aaaah, even despite my hair’s green hues from my henna lightening attempts it’d be hard to dispute that life really couldn’t get much better!
As the others commented we had a brilliant time in the Midwest – a HUGE thanks to everyone who took us in as family . . . having pet fish named after us by Dani’s Auntie is representative of the warm welcomes we experience throughout the region. Next stop was Louisville, KY where we were received by our new friend, Jody, and her friends to enjoy a beautiful summer night. I fell in love with Louisville (and not just because My Morning Jacket hails from there!) – the calmer pace of life, the fireflies, the warm nights and gracious people all made it hard to leave. Fortunately St. Louis, MO was also a joy – there we spent time with the Newmarks of New Chapter and a great crew from Pet Promise. As the tour’s demo rep for New Chapter it was a pleasure to have leisure time to pick the brain of their President, Tom Newmark. I could have listened for days to his discourse on life, human’s role in it, and New Chapter’s dedication to fighting for the Earth while empowering people through health – thank you Tom for sharing some of your seemingly endless knowledge with us!
The store in St. Louis was also excellent – what a nice bunch of people! After not having been on the floor in a while it felt good to be interacting with the public again and spreading the word on consciousness. Now we’re off to what I am expecting to be one of the highlights of the year, Bonnaroo! I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to catch Kings of Leon and Michael Franti’s shows at the same time, but I’ll let you know how I make out . . .
Enjoy summer’s endless rays of sunshine!
Much love, Nikki
