July . . . Really?!
The other day Will joked “Is it July?!? Was it my birthday?? Did I have a good time??!” We reassured him that yes, it was already July and we had celebrated his birthday and incase he couldn’t remember he had enjoyed himself. Here’s to an excellent 28th year Will . . . thank you for continuing to be our fearless leader!
His sentiments are shared by us all. I can’t believe that the last time I checked in was almost a month ago - we were on our way to Bonnaroo . . . and as predicted it was awesome! Wow. I love festivals. We shared a prime spot with other bio-vehicles in what was known as the “Green Pod” near the stages. The shows were great - I caught Kings of Leon and made up for missing part of Franti by catching his shorter acoustic set later that same day. Highlights as far as bands though had to be Rodrigo y Gabriella and Xavier Rudd . . . the classical guitars, the didgeridoo – all of it blew me away. And even though I was a pretty big fader most late nights Sara Newmark of New Chapter (sorry Sara, but I have to blow up your spot) and I decided that, although maybe a little late to catch on, we love rave music! Those DJ are incredible. The area we were in, the people that were keeping the bus lively (SO much love to Human and his crew – all so beautiful and inspiring! Check out their powerful music at www.thehumanrevolution.org), and the energy in our camp all made for the best festival experience I’ve ever had – it may also all contribute to making it difficult to attend festivals in the future if I’m not a vendor or with a band!
Fast forward a few weeks . . . we’ve already hit Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Maine and now we’re in Massachusetts! We’ll be on the East Coast until the end of the summer and so far it’s been beautiful. Got to camp for a couple of days in Ohio’s Salt Fork State Park, took in the beauty and great atmosphere of Brattleboro and Burlington, VT, spent some much needed time by the sea in Portland, ME (where we met COOL people – some of whom let me randomly take a shower during their 4th BBQ, thanks again Heidi and crew!), and have already enjoyed the New England charm of Amherst, MA and its surrounding areas. A big thanks to Sara Newmark who took us in while we were in Brattleboro – I was looking forward to visiting New Chapter’s headquarters, but wasn’t expecting to be quite so impressed with the town, the people and what the company is working towards – all of them were a breathe of fresh air. My time there only reinforced how proud I am to be spreading the word about a company that cares so much for the health and well being of humans, while being respectful of our place on this brilliant planet.
Hope this finds you all shining bright!
Much love, Nikki
