JULY 8:
The sun shimmers through the leaves and my fluttering eyelashes as I drift in and out of sleep; Todd and I rest amidst our luggage on a small island of grass between two roads at an airport in Indianapolis. “Erin! Todd!”, Julia calls enthusiastically from our bus and runs to greet us. We board the bus and we are off…I am so excited and feel instantly at home in our traveling abode. We stop in Antwerp, OH… the bus decides to stop longer than we anticipated. I am greeted by the glowing eyes and bright smiles of two young boys, Lexi and Yuri (from Russia). They give us a grand tour of their parents’ nursery, quaint gift shop, and their very own garden (complete with Merigolds to keep rabbits away- thanks for teaching me that boys!) I took a stroll around the pond with Lexi and learned about frogs, fish, cat tails, deer tracks and had him pick out a pebble for our alter. The work on the bus was interspersed with jamming with the locals; a band complete with guitars, drums, harmonicas, fiddle, and various vocals! The bus decided it was time for us to continue on and so we said our goodbyes and continued on our adventure!
